Â鶹ÊÓƵ welcomes Dr. Manal Shalaby as Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence

Â鶹ÊÓƵ welcomes Dr. Manal Shalaby as its first Fulbright Scholar-In-Residence for the 2023-24 academic year. She comes to Â鶹ÊÓƵ from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt, where she is an assistant professor of English and comparative literature. As part of her appointment at Â鶹ÊÓƵ, she will help launch the Global Studies Fellows Program. In addition to teaching in support of the program, including the core course, "Introduction to World Literature," Dr. Shalaby will offer student-faculty research opportunities in the humanities and present lectures in Putnam County on world literature. In collaboration with Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s first Global Studies Scholar, Amity Reading, associate professor and chair of the English department, she will help organize an interdisciplinary global learning reading group in the fall and an international symposium on global studies in the spring. Dr. Shalaby said, “I'm looking forward to an enriching experience of personal and professional growth, hoping that my cultural background and diverse scholarly interests will cultivate the interdisciplinary nature of the program and encourage Â鶹ÊÓƵ students and community members to explore their roles as global citizens.”
